This morning I noticed the burner indicator light up by the knobs would not go off. This is different than the hot surfact indicator on the glass top itself. Although that light was illuminated as well but I'm not sure if that's because I was turning them on and off trying to get the other light to go off. They click when you get to off, however that indicator light is still on. Because I needed to get to work, I simply cut the power at the breaker to ensure I didn't come home to a burner that was on all day.

I replaced the control panel last fall and it's been working great. I know nothing of the mechanics of the knobs and wasn't sure how to go about testing to see if it's the knob, wire, or what.

Any insight is appreciated.

I'm not sure which switch according to the diagram I would try replacing. There seems to be one switch labeled as #4, but the list of parts provides 3 different #4s. They are cheap enough I assume it's just easier to replace both of them on that side. Do you know which of these three would be the right one:

Switch Element (dual)

Switch-in

Switch Infinite

Perhaps it varies by model and I'll have to pull one first?

There are two burners on that side, one small and one large. Again, I'm assuming I'd have to replace them both since I don't really have a way to check and see if just one is bad.

I'm also assuming based on that I'd need one Switch-in and one Infinite, but that's by process of elimination. How do you know by the labeling which one is for which type of burner. Dual is self explanatory but the others have me puzzled.

I guess I was referring to identifying which is which in the parts list, not on the stove itself. Identifying which knob goes to which burner on the stove shouldn't be hard at all.
