Hi, I'm looking to buy this LG wm2050cw which is not running. From the information provided by the seller below and the help of google I've determined that there's a good chance it just needs a new main control board. I'm tech savvy enough to do something like this and enjoy the process but it will be my first washer fix. From your experience, does this sound like a bad main control board or something more then that?

From the seller:
"I used the HE detergent. I think the problem may have been in the
foundation of where it was, which was not as sturdy as it should have
been. It worked fine for 3 years then one day would not turn on at
all. I have tried everything LG told me to, just don't want to waste
$75 for them to come out and tell me its broken.
No error codes. No power whatsoever. The unit does not turn on and is unresponsive. I know nothing else. I have not tried to fix it, or hire a technician. It is in great shape with no leaks or rust. The motor runs strong and there was no problems with it before it just went black one day and stopped responding."

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hi.

You should check if the 120VAC is going through the noise filter to the control board White plug wires 1 and 3. No power - replace the filter.
If there is correct voltage check if LED at the control board is on.
Check all connections and wire harness.
If all checks OK, and there is no LED light you should replace the main control board
Part number: EBR38163349
Part number: EBR38163349

If you need the noise filter Part number: 6201EC1006L
Part number: 6201EC1006L

Good luck.

Simon.

Thanks for your help. I'm getting power on both sides of the noise filter on wires 1 & 3.
When I picked up the washer the guy told me he thinks water might of gotten in the the Display Board in front because it might not of been on level ground. I took out the display boards and there is this white stuff all underneath the silicone stuff covering the circuit boards. Here are some pictures. I just want to make sure I'm not replacing the main control board for nothing. Is there a way to test these boards?

Hi,

I'm facing a very similar situation. How did your repair workout?

I'm wondering why a PCB could go out in the first place. We traced it to what looked like the fuse on the main PCB was blown. Wouldn't this indicate that something else, not on the PCB itself, has caused the PCB to go bad?

Thanks,

David

I'm not sure what was wrong with it. It didn't look like anything was burnt from what I could tell. I ended up finding a new board for $50 on amazon which was an awesome deal and it works now. Good luck.

Wow $50. That is an amazing price. I have mostly seen prices in the $125-$145 range. I did find one on ******** for $95. I just bought the Washer and Dryer on craigslist and after one wash it craps out so I was pretty pissed off as you could imagine.

Was EBR38163349 the part # you bought for your WM2050CW?

More then likely he was sold the old recall part that has a slower programming agitation and spin mode which it works somewhat but it leaves soap in your clothes and doesn't spin fast enough leaving clothes wet. They have a recall for this board because of this situation.

How can you tell if the board is the old recall part?

Go into diagnostic mode on your tech sheet and copy down the versions of software codes which come up....Only problem is without being a tech or just dealing with LG customer service in general they won't help give out any information about the software programming or versions and will deny such things exist half the time. Good luck
