I have an older upright freezer probably 30+ years old. It quit and warmed up the other day, so I cleaned it out turned off the thermostat unplugged it and left. Now If I turn it on it will kick on fine and freeze great for about an hour then shut off and never never come on again unless I turn thermostat off and back on again. Then same issue. I noticed that it did get hot on the outside coils on the back and the compressor, but I figured it was just working hard to get the temp down initially. Any thoughts??

I double checked and that is the correct model number listed on the door. I thought that it might be a faulty thermostat. But wasn't sure why everything would shut off permenantly. Is the compressor overheating and shutting itself down then?
