Is it bad that there is debris under my control panel?

The control panel on our Kitchenaid KUDS30IXBT1 is really getting bad. I needs lots of power-resets to get it to start (good thing my brother installed a switch under the sink for the dishwasher power). I read here that the panel going bad is not uncommon. But should their be condensation built up in the door after a cycle that drips out of the handle when you open it? I took off the control panel (thanks to info found on this site) and found lots of moisture inside the area with the panel's circuit board. Is this going to continue to break every couple years?
We originally got version zero (XBT0) of this model which had terrible moisture handling and got lowe's to replace it as a lemon under warranty. This version added the side vent on the door, a sound-proofing floormat, and maybe more venting in the handle. Recently the water build-up has been greater. Is there anything mechanical in the vent mechanism? I see a couple wires leading to the end of it. Is it possible either not opening or closing as it should during and after the cycle?

Yes that's very possible it's usually like a small fan of some sort......take the front panel off.............locate the vent.........locate your tech sheet and force it into diagnostic.......hook a voltmeter up to the wires going to the vent and see if you get 120v anytime in those cycles to the motor............if you do the main control is sending the signal and if not you might have an issue with the main control or wires leading to it. Thanks for the advice. I'll have to get the new panel because the heat-dry button is not working, and that seems to be needed for diagnostic mode.
So, I re-installed the control panel earlier. After dinner, I got the wash cycle to start, luckily the start button works. And just now, we noticed that water was on the floor. :( This is a first time for leaking. The water is leaking out of the bottom of the door. Reaching up underneath, the insulation in the door is sopping wet. It's as if the vent into the door must be wide open. After a few power-resets, i got the cancel/drain function to work and it is draining now.
I am not sure how to proceed. I got te panel re-attached just fine. I don't think anything I did could have caused the water to penetrate the door. Any ideas?

In all honesty i think your machine sounds like a lost cause after all you've tried.

I would assume that the vent should be closed during the wash cycle, with it open only during the final drying time. Correct? If so, that means (1) it is either mechanically stuck open (ignoring command to close), (2) the commands to close it are not sent from the control board; or (3) or the vent is not getting the commands for some reason. As I said, this is first time it leaked this way. The vent part (replaced by) W10469575 is about $39 and the panel is $130. It's tough to find a good dishwasher in bisque. Taking off the vent seems to require taking the entire door panel apart, True?
As last resort, I am considering putting duct tape over the inside door vent, and simply opening the door when the cycle is over.
I really appreciate your help on this.:)

I found a reference to a known issue with the venting and it applies to my model. TSP W10436103 Does this mean that KA will fix the issue on their nickel?

You will have to call them.
I did look at the sheet and it looks more like info on how to diagnose problems with this part than an across the board recall/modification of the part. |

On normal wash, it leaked enough to saturate the panel insulation (no water on floor, but enough also in control panel that it dripped ou of it when opening the door. Last night, I ran the One-Hour Wash cycle, which does not use the heated dry option, and no leaks, no wetness of the door insulation. Yeah!:) I did buy a new control panel on ******** tonight for $69 shipped. It's new, and I got a 3-year square trade warranty for an extra ten bucks. So when it fails again in 2 years from water damage. I'll get another one from them. Once the panel is here and installed, I'll be able to run the diagnostic sequence and see if the vent damper is operating properly. Used vents are around $25 on ******** and $38 new. It beats duct-taping the damper closed. I'll update when the new panel arrives this weekend. Thanks for the help!
