Is it bad that there is debris under my control panel?

So I'm replacing a shot control panel and notice lots of old small food debris covering plastic circuit board cover and even some more on the circuit board and ribbon. Is this normal wear and tear on a dishwasher that's had heavy usage for about a decade? Or is there a breach somewhere between the vent and the control panel. I just paid appx. $200 for a new panel and don't want it going bad quick. Any thoughts?

There's a hard plastic cover that covers that whole area....if there's food up in there there's a practical joker in your family because i've never in my career have seen that. Condensation sure but food no way.

That's disconcerting. There is a a bunch of dried crap on the board and all over the ribbon. Probably led to the panel going bad. The cover is snapped on tight, but somehow, there is a breach that is letting stuff get up in there. It's the consistency of sand and is covering wires, circuits, plugs, etc. I'm going to check gaskets and give it a careful cleaning and check on progress. The good news is that the dishwasher is back running smooth again with new panel.
