Good evening,

Earlier this week, my GE chest freezer compressor started making a buzzing noise and stopped cooling. The compressor is very expensive to replace, so I'm hoping there are some other components I can try to replace first? What tests and troubleshooting steps can I take to determine what part/s might be faulty?

Thanks for the help!

If the compressor is buzzing, then clicks off, it's drawing excessive current and dropping out on it's overload. Amprobe would confirm.

Seems like you have a bad compressor.
