ok I need help fixing this problem. my dryer turns and heats the problem I am having it that when I start the dryer it works fine but after 5 min it still turns or spins but the heat does not come back on. it is gas. I see the filment glowing red but it seems like the gas is not passing through it. I have to shut it off wait 30 mins and turn it back on and it does it again. what do I have to do. thank you for your help in advance.

oh yea it is a whirlpool imperial series 7 cycle 4 temperatures.

thank you for your reply. now I have a question. where can I get the part and the diagram to where the part goes. also my stoves oven is doing a similar thing where it will turn on and after it reaches the temp it shuts off and won't turn back on so I am guessing it is the same problem?the heating element turns red but the gas does not kick in.

yes, on the oven you also need an ignitor. it is not strong enough to open the gas valve all the time.

on the dryer- first unplug it. then pull the lint filter out, and remove the two phillips head screws right there. then we need to pop up the top. get a putty knife, and slide it under the top, on the right side, about three inches from the end, and you will hit a clip, that will release the top, on that side. do the same on the other side. then push the top up, and rest it on the back wall. now we need to take the front off. look inside the front up top on the right and left side, about six inches from the top, and there will be a 5/16s screw, holding the front on, on each side. remove them, and lean the front toward you a little, and remove the wires from the door switch. then grab the left side of the front panel, and pull up quick and reasonably hard, and that will release the bottom of the front panel from the cabinet. do the same on the other side, and remove the front.

now, the gas valve is right up front. the 2 coils sit right on the top of the gas valve. there will be a metal bracket the holds it in place. remove the 2 phillip head screws, and remove on coil at at time, and replace it with the new on. try to position the new coil in the same position, as the bracket will only fit flush with the gas valve, when the coils are in the right place. then put the wires back on, and the dryer back on, and you have it. tom
