Thanks, Eric! The roll pin seems to fit the clutch ok. Here's a pic of the clutch and the roll pin. (I put a white sheet of paper on the floor of the washer so you can see the metal dust.)

Here's a pic of the clutch. You can see how worn the top of the clutch is where it meets the spring clip.

The roll pin engages the clutch. So I checked the inside of my clutch. It's very worn. You can see in the pic that the bottom and sides have been ground down. Could the unevenness of the clutch cause the clutch to grind on the clutch spring clip?



I have replaced the roll pin a couple times because the original roll pin broke. I first tried an OEM part, but it was 1.75" long, and wouldn't fit the clutch. So I used a 3/16"x1" roll pin, which is slightly smaller than the hole in the motor shaft and it moved around a little. I think the small size of the roll pin caused the unusual wearing inside of the clutch. When I fixed the washer another time, I couldn't find the roll pin and replaced it with a 1/4"x1" roll pin. This size of roll pin fits snugly inside the motor shaft.

So I probably just need a new clutch?

Not sure what caused the roll pin to break, but it's only happened once. The motor pulley rotates easily in both directions. I'll put in a new clutch, which will arrive in a week. I'll give you an update then.
