You did install the correct switch,

and check the wiring at the switch and element

You're going to need a Multimeter, and you'll need to conduct a voltage check at the switch and the burner element, so you can determine the power loss location.

Okay,

I'm reviving this thread since I'm having the same problem again. As you can see my posts above, I replaced the front right double burner about 15 months ago, and now I'm having the same problem. I checked the resistance and realized the burner needed to be replaced. Is the life of the burner too short? Is this normal?

Taeseoplim, The life span on a radiant element is usually a lot longer than fifteen months. Of course there are a lot of reasons why the element failed, it could be a defect in the materials, it could be that it was damaged in shipping or dinged or nicked during the installation. Since you know the element has an "open" circuit, you need to replace it as soon as possible, to reduce possible failures or damage to other components. Thanks,

Hi Guys,

I have never used this Forum for post, but I have often used it to find answers. I do really appreciate the help.

I have a problem with my JES9900BAB SN# 16xxxxxx. Both larger burners have been acting up. The front right burner only works at Highest most setting and we can't turn it down. The Rear left burner also appears to be doning the same thing, but we are able to turn it either really down or really hot.

From what I have read on this post, it appears that I might need to replace the Infinte Switch for the Front Right Burner and switch for the Read left burner. I have ordered the Elements which I can return, but wanted to see if you could help me diagnose the problem and what I might need to replace.

I truely appreciate the help..

Rgupta03, There is a Cycling circuit in each burner infinite switch. It usually fluctuates the L2 power to the element, based on the selected heat setting (Hi, Med, Lo or 1,2,3, etc). If the element works but doesn't cycle off and on, then the issue is usually in the infinite switch.
The left rear element is a large 8" element and will need

for the infinite switch. The right front element is a large dual element and will require a "custom control" infinite switch

Unless you forgot to mention something, the switches should solve the issue.

Jenn air ranges just like this are infamous for this problem or the hot surface lights staying on

Joe,

I got the parts last night and installing it for the right front burner was really easy. Two harness wires that only plug in one way so there isn't much one could go wrong while installing it.

Unfortunately, once I installed it and turn it ON, the burner now does nothing. The Old switch and new switch are exactly the same. I can have te old switch installed and have the burner come ON, but not regulate between lower and higher tempratures. The burner does not even ignite with the new switch. Could it be that the new switch is bad? Is there a way to test the switch without installing it? If so, could you please let me know how.

If not, Is there something esle that I could be doing wrong.:) :(

Rgupta03, It sounds like you have a faulty new switch. There aren't a lot of checks to make to the custom control, just power in 240 VAC across L1 and L2 at the switch. Test the element sensor resistance across pin 3 and 4 on the six(6) wire harness, it should read 10,000 ohms resistance at room temp. Make sure the connectors are seated and locked in place on the switch and red L2 wire is at the bottom of the switch nearest the "arcless" label on the switch. Check and make sure the wires between the switch and the burner, did not get accidentally removed or disconnected from the terminals. If all's OK, replace the switch.
