Hi All, New to this forum, perhaps you can help me. I messed up. I had an ice plug in the drain, and in the process of cleaning it up, and cleaning the coils, I shorted out the freezer blower fan. Evidently I pulled a wire loose from the motor, and it arced against the panel. (DUMB!) I ordered a new fan motor, but now only the light comes on. The compressor wont run, and the coils wont frost. Is there a fuse somewhere? Thanks!

I went to the Sears site but cannot seem to get into the parts sections. Looks like your unit uses an adaptive defrost board. Could be you blew the board. Also how long have you waited? Give it at least half an hour as you may be in a defrost cycle but it should finish in half an hour or so. Also make sure that the main thermostat is not set at Off. It was turned up all the way. I waited a few hours now. It is not showing any cold whatsoever. Do you think it is the board or a thermostat?

Denman,
It was turned up all the way. I waited a few hours now. It is not showing any cold whatsoever. Do you think it is the board or a thermostat? How do I test/diagnose? I really don't want to spend more $ than I have to.

I think this unit uses a analogue (old style) thermostat so you could short across it's connections and see if it fires up. If not then I would put my money on the defrost board.
OR measure the voltage across the thermostat's contacts. It should be 0 volts. |
