Spin cycle does not start and water won't drain.

I have a Kenmore Extra Large capacity washer that refuses to engage the final spin cycle which also won't drain the water in the tub. I just replaced the lid switch and still no go. When the previous switch went bad it did short which tripped the breaker.
Is there another safety switch or other device that would keep the spin cycle from engaging? I tried selecting the spin cycle under the difference wash option and it's the same issue. No power at all. All washing cycles work fine, agitator functions properly.
Any advise or insight would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Okay, so even if the spin cycle does not engage the dial should still be progressing regardless?

Yes, when in spin mode, a single contact in the timer applies power to the timer motor and to other contacts in the timer for applying power to the drive motor. That single timer contact is in series with the lid switch so a failure of either will prevent operation of both timer motor and drive motor.
