Whirlpool Super Capacity Washer - Not Running - Just Hums

Hi - I have an older Whirlpool Super Capacity Washing Machine with direct drive. Several weeks ago it stopped spinning and I replaced the couplings. It worked fine for several weeks - every once in a while it had a slight burning smell - but for the most part ran ok. Today while in the spin cycle it tripped a breaker. When I reset the breaker - it would not resume and just hummed and thats all it does. What does this sound like to you guys? Bad Motor?
Thanks Randy

Remove cabinet, jump out lid switch, remove pump from motor and see if motor will run. If not, remove motor and try it while sitting on floor. Place your foot on motor before starting as it will jump if it starts. What is model number of washer? Is it agitating ok?

Mine is doing this same thing. I replaced the lid switch and the motor drive switch. The machine will fill but won't spin. If I manually push the white button on the motor switch it will spin. What could be wrong? Please help :)

You likely have a connector on the motor that has become loose and is not making good connection with the Molex connector. Usually the brass colored tab on the motor will look burnt or the white plastic will be discolored. See any such marks around the motor plug connector?
