The frame around the freezer section is hot to the touch. The center divider is especially hot. Unable to leave my hand there for longer than 5 or 10 seconds. Is this part of the exterior moisture reduction system or part of the freezer defroster system? Any troubleshooting info would be appreciated.

Hi.

Remove the front grill and the rear cover and check if the condenser coils are clogged with the dirt and if the condenser fan motor is running.
Clean the coils and replace the motor if needed

Thanks for the response. The coils are clean, but I'm not sure if the fan is working. I'll check it out this evening and let you know.

Have the same problem - cleaned coils, replaced condenser fan and motor which runs for 20 seconds and stops and never starts again. If I unplug fridge and plug back in, wait 7 minutes - the fan runs for 20 seconds and stops. Any ideas for next steps? This is a KitchenAid KSCS25inss01 about 6 years old. Thx.

Hi.

Based on the information you provided it's a bad main control board. Unfortunately it's no longer available. Check the internet for the company who may be able to rebuild the old one.

Good luck.
