I need to repair an ice door that sticks open and am getting ready to take off inner liner on freezer door. I know several other models can be removed by prying around the outer edges of the trim ring on the ice/water dispenser, but I tried that, and it is very solidly connected, it seems. Does this old model require removing the inner freezer door to repair the ice dispenser? It is not that difficult, but I don't want to do it and find I still can't access the ice door. Thanks.

I just noticed that no one had ever replied to this post although 984 people viewed it. Here is the answer in case you need it. There is a single small phillips screw in the center of the bottom outer trim panel that covers the dispenser and door mechanism. Once removed, the entire panel can be slid to the left and removed. The entire mechanism can be serviced from this point. There are four #15 Torx screws holding in the mechanism. Be careful of the wires and water line. Hope this helps.
