Ok, just put together this web page. The bearing number you need is a 6205-2RS-1 It must be the "-1" type which is a "special" size, not the 6205-2RS which won't fit. The "-1" type has a 25.4mm inner bore diameter (exactly 1 inch) while the other one has a 25mm bore (too small). Don't get any oil or grease on the hubs or spring or else the spring won't grip and it won't spin. You do need to put a little grease in the ramps where the 6 activation balls go. Good luck.

Ok, I've got the part and am trying it now. I'm having a little trouble getting the parts off though. I don't want to scratch anything but I can't use liquid wrench on the parts either.

Ok, so I got everything off but the old bearing. Any tips on getting that out?

Because of the four crimps that hold it in place, you need a large drift pin or similar and heavy hammer to knock it out.

Ok, I have a 5 lb sledge and I can pick up a drift pin or pin set at harbor freight or lowes. I have metal files already. Is there a tool you'd suggest for doing the crimps?

I have the old bearing out! That's gotta be my problem. It's all rusted and rough. So if I can get the old bearing out with the drift pin, can I not do the same with the new bearing to get it in without a great deal of filing? And is the crimping part absolutely necessary? If so, what tool would you use to do that?

I used a dremel tool and just ground the crimps down a little bit to make it a little easier to get the new bearing in. I don't like the idea of banging on the new bearing too much. I assume the crimps are necessary to keep the outer bearing race from turning. I don't know how tight the bearing fit is if the crimps were ground completely away.

Thank you, Eric. Yesterday ended a 6 week struggle with my washer, thanks to you, and the cost was minimal. The machine runs and sounds as if I just had it delivered from the store. Your procedure and instructions worked like a charm. Thank you so much for your expertise!
