Oven said "fault detected", had repair person change oven sensor, fault detected again. Oven was way too hot (runaway temp). Told to change control board and I did. Now with a new sensor and new board, I still have an oven that overheats and when I set it to 400f it jumps to 500+ and I have to turn off the oven. Any advice? Much appreciated!
I used a digital thermometer hanging in the middle of the oven, not touching anything, to check the temperature as it heated. The board was not telling me the correct temp. When I shut it off and set it for a new temp it showed me a different oven temp than it did before.

Hi.

You need to check the wiring and connector between the control board and oven sensor.
Trace the sensor's wires to the control and use a multimeter to check it's resistance at the control plug.
At room temperature you should read about 1100 ohms.

Post the results.

Simon.

Thank you so much for the reply. Alas, I don't have a multimeter and I know the repairman did check the resistance and it was fine but I don't know if it was just the sensor or the wiring as well.

This is the only way that I know how to troubleshoot this problem.
You can get a meter for less than $20.
