Problem: Clothes are showing an orange "burn" mark after drying.
Probable cause: Felt Glide Assembly is worn down and needs replacing.
I have had this problem before (about 3 years ago) on this machine and the replacement of the felt glide assembly did 'fix' the problem.
Since, I am having to the problem repeat itself, I wanted to know if there was another layer to this problem. I am prepared to order another felt glide assembly, but I would like to address the cause of the part wearing down.
Please let me know if there is something I can do to not only address the 'burn' marks on the clothes, but also address what is making this part wear down.

Thank you. FDE, Make sure the dryer is level or slightly higer in the front(no more than 1/4 in.) and not being overloaded (never more than 1/2 full). When replacing the front glide/seal, you also need to check and insure the rear drum bearing and shaft are OK. At this point, I'd replace all 3 parts, Drum bearing kit Part number: AP2142648

How do I know by their appearance whether they are ok?

There's not a lot to do or investigate, if any of the components in that bearing assembly are distorted, loose or worn (especially the white comosite bearing assembly), or if the dryer is not level, that causes the drum to shift forward and that puts excessive wear and tear on the front glides, allowing the clothes to get into the gap and pinch between the surfaces. The only thing you could do at this point is check and insure there's no loose bolts,screws, and the shaft/bearing is snapped and "locked"in the white bearing assembly. At one point, it was policy to replace both parts at the same time,regardless of which one was damaged. Good Luck, :) :) :)

I did a rebuild on this model with the parts shown but when it was time to slide the drum back onto the front panel, the top felt/glides are hanging up. The old part had no glides and was thinner (worn down?)...
The new part is about 3/8" thick and as I try to guide the drum over the glides/felt, I can get it started on the one closest and almost on the top one, but the opposite is now *outside* the drum...
There is very little clearance to reach in and force each of them into compression.
It seems like if it were this hard or there were a trick that this would be described somewhere?
Any ideas?

Any ideas? Sasmyth, A couple of things to check for, Make sure the "lip" on the tumbler center opening is not damaged or distorted, rough areas on the drum could be "grabbing" the felt seal or glides, causing the issue. Make sure you apply enough adhesive to the front panel rim and allow the adhesive to dry properly before using the dryer. Replacing the felt seal: 1. Disconnect the dryer from electrical supply. 2. Remove the front panel. 3. The felt seal is a (2) piece seal that is glued to front panel rim that the drum rides on. 4. To replace the seal pull the seal off and glue the replacement to the rim. ( One way of using the adhesive is to apply enough to both surfaces, and allow to set for 5 to 10 minutes, so it becomes "tacky", Then apply the seal to the rim. Hold the seal down in the center and pull the seal up from each side, and then reapply the seal, and make sure there are no wrinkles or gaps.) You may want to apply a "dab" of silicone grease to the glides, and then hold the drum up, while you install and secure the front panel. Thanks

Yes, I *did* sort this out after my posting and you are absolutely correct, and it appears to be the (now) obvious problem.
The way I backed into ordering the wrong parts may be instructional to others:
My dryer was not heating. Using the very good resources provided by this company and one of their rivals, I tore down my dryer and discovered a broken heating element (not surprising), ordered it up and when it arrived, installed it (again with great help from the videos, etc.).
When I put it back together, the "thump and grind" that had been moderate before had gone to "significant". I don't think I did any specific damage to the bearings/seals, etc. when I went through it and I *did* look for any significant over-wear. But I assumed that *at least* the front drum seal/glide was at risk... it did not show *wear* per-se but after 13 years of hard use, it was easy to believe that the felt seal had worn beyond tolerances and taking it apart (twice) and putting it back together probably aggravated this.
I returned to the part ordering system, found the part I had replaced (heating element and shield as a unit) and as I remember it clicked a link that said "other parts suggested for this dryer". The first thing I saw was a "maintenance kit" which included rear bearing and seat, idler arm, belt *and* front seals (top and bottom). Visually everything looked correct and there was even an explanation that said the "top seal" was upgraded from the factory installed type (so not a surprise that it looked slightly different).
Little did I know that *MY* Model of this dryer is a minor modification to an earlier model and while they use the SAME heating element (and just about every other part), the newer model seems to use glides on the drum and felt (only) on the door. The older model had glides attached to the top of the felt seal on the door. The "other parts suggested for this dryer" lead me to other parts for the trivially (1 year) older model that *did* use glides on the felt pad. The system was "just trying to help".
So yes, had I found the part the obvious way (starting with model number) I would have had the right part, and if there were an easy way to cross reference (what models does this part fit?) I might have caught it without installing it.
As it turns out, all of the other parts appear identical *and* the mis-installed part appears to differ literally by no more than the glides which are attached with nylon posts. Before I stripped the felt seal (with glides) and ordered a new one, waiting days, etc. I decided to see if I could strip the glides off only... and viola! It seems I could and now I'm back up and running with (probably) no issues.
I can't give enough praise to these online parts and advice systems such as yours... as well as forums such as this one. I hope my experience helps someone else.
