I opened the front panel and counted the light flashing. it flashes for 6 times then stops flashing for 4 seconds then flash again for 6 seconds. what does that mean? where is the defect?

Hello everyone, I have a GE Washer model # GCWN5050M0WS and I am seeing the error code of 6 flashes. I put my multimeter to the mode shifter and it read 68 ohms, open. It seems as if the motor isn't even engaging. I'm unsure if it is the motor, the mode shifter, or both.
Any suggestions on how I could further isolate the issue? Thanks.

I had a customer having the exact problem on a 1 1/2 year old ge washer . We looked for fuse but none to be found. Doesn't show one on schematic. Could never get it to start after filling. My educated guess the problem is the board on the motor.

i've read a couple posts with similar problems. got the top off and see a panel with a light. nothing flashing but the washer fills, clicks and keeps moving through cycle w/o agitating. the belt looks new and is firmly in place. what next? thank you

The light that will be flashing is under the cover on the top of the motor. Count the number of flashes in between pauses and then post that number, please.

You'll have more troubles with most of flrontloaders. Gene. I found the led light and it is flashing 4 times.what should I do?

After reading through posts, I attempted to bypass the lid switch. I must not have taped the wires well enough and they contacted the machine body, sparled, and now I have no operation at all.
Initially, I was getting 7 flashes from led, so I was going to bypass the switch, but now I need to know what I might have messed up to make all operation stop.
Are there any main fuses I should check?

Some models have a fuse for the motor that you may have blown. If the light that was blinking was red you don’t have a fuse. If it was green you have a fuse. If the fuse is blown the light will no longer blink. The fuse is an in-line fuse in the group of wires to the right of the tub. If the fuse isn’t bad or you don’t have a fuse my guess is your motor is bad. (This is especially true if the light no longer blinks) however the short could have also damaged the control. This page talks about how to check the fuse HydroWave GE Washer Repair Guide
