I was making a video tonight (I mean trying to make one) to upload to Youtube. I turned the camera off while the washer was in the spin cycle (the noise had already come and gone). About 15 seconds after I turned the camera off, I heard a loud "BANG", but everything was still working. After it stopped spinning, I opened the lid and found the agitator leaning against the side of the tub. The little screw that holds the coupling on came off and the coupling came off the shaft. Unfortunately, the screw is rattling around inside the agitator & I don't know how to get it out. Is there a method for getting the agitator off the coupling?
With all this stuff hitting the fan, I'm wondering if it'd be easier to just buy a new washer.
My son will be over for the weekend. I'll get him to upload the video I shot.

Yes, you need to make 8 small strips of sheet metal about an inch long and the width of the tabs on the bottom of the agitator. Insert the strips between the agitator tabs and the coupler and bend them slightly outwards so that all the 8 tabs are released from the coupler at the same time. Now grab the coupler with a pair of needle nose pliers and pull it out.

Got it off. Used steak knives for the strips of metal. I have to go to work now, but I'll pick my son up on my way home & we'll upload that video.

Sounds like the spring on the bottom of the transmission may be broken or slipping but the washer is not agitating during the first part of the video. Is the agitator still removed? Even if it is, I still don't detect any agitation noise from the transmission. If the agitator is installed, it definitely is not agitating. Without being there, I just can't tell if the noise is coming from the motor or transmission, however, if it isn't agitating, the transmission is shot.

It's agitating ok. I just started recording after it was done agitating.
It might be just in my head, but while I was holding the camera while recording, I could swear I heard little noises while it was agitating...like jingling change.

In the video, the motor was running in the agitate direction until the point just before draining but it was clearly not agitating.

In the first video, at the start of the video you stated that it just finished agitating yet the motor continues to run in the agitate direction for nearly 5 minutes without agitating. That is a transmission problem. There's no way I can tell where the noise at start of spin is coming from without being there myself, it's not a noise that I recognize. You need to determine if it's the motor, clutch or the transmission.
