Dishwasher was dead.Diagnosed a bad timer. Replaced it, and it worked a few minutes, and shut down again!

Hi.
Please provide more info. What was the original problem? What makes you think it's the timer? What do you mean "shot down"?
Simon.

Simon, Thanks for responding Original problem was that it completely died. Circuit tester showed no reading going out of the timer, so I replaced it!
And it worked for 10 minutes, and then shut down completely again, meaning it stopped working all together, and the electrical outlet is still live. So I am thinking the motor is old and it seized up! Maybe it took out the new timer too? what are your thoughts? Rob

Hi.
Check the latch mechanism, the latch switch.Make sure you are getting the 120VAC through the switch to the timer. A lot of times there could be a bad connection in the junction box behind the toe panel(on the right).Do not use circuit tester, use a multimeter.
Post the results.
Simon.
