The upper drying cabinet stays warm for days even after the cycle has completed. I can hear the components of the dryer creaking like they are cooling down and when I open the top cabinet it is warm. What should I look for to repair the problem?

Sorry for the delay.

Sounds like the problem is a bad relay board (#22 at the diagram).

- The relay board Part number: 53-4643
Part number: 53-4643

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Parts for Maytag MCG8000AWW Dryer - AppliancePartsPros.com

Gene,

Thank you. I ran the diagnostics on the touchpad and all buttons/LEDs passed. I also did the diagnostics of the logic board functions and all of those functions passed EXCEPT the shaker motor- I could hear the relay make up when the shaker motor was commanded to turn on, but the motor did not start. Perhaps this is also a problem with the relay board.

I unplugged the 3 wiring harness connectors from the logic board and the upper cabinet continues to heat, so this certainly points to the relay board as the problem.

Thanks for your assistance!

You have nothing to lose if you will order the part from APP and give it a try.

Keep us posted.

Gene,

Thanks for your help- I installed the replacement relay board that I ordered from Appliance Parts Pros.com and it took care of the problem. Your advise was right on!
