I have posted this before but due to my advanced age can't recall some of the info. The refrigerator drain freezes up about 3 times a year. I do the turkey baster and blow dryer routine which lasts about 4 months. What I am searching for is a lasting "cure" to the curse. At one point it was suggested to wrap a bare copper wire around the defroster and direct it into the drain. I did that and when it froze up the last time I found that the frozen water had pushed the wire out of the hole. Alas we once again have water seeping into the fresh section. Somewhere I saw a part that could be installed for about $25.00 to cure the problem but I cannot remember where I saw it.

I believe this is what you are referring to. Click on the picture for more info about the part. Part number: 819043
A couple other things to check.do are. 1. Make sure that the part the water takes to the drain line is clean, no residue etc. 2. Sometimes a coating of buffed up wax will help the water drain faster. |

Thanks for the reply and information. It looks like what I saw before and hopefully will resolve the problem. Do I need to replace the defrost assembly as well?

Thanks for the information. Do I need to replace the defrost heater as well as installing the device that will extend down the drain tube?

You are missing the first 3 numbers at the start of the given model number so I cannot look up what type of defrost heater this unit uses. |

the model # starts with 106. So it's 106.71194100. As inquired before, should I replace the defrost heater at the same time as part # 819403?

You did not mention any problems with the evaporator coils not defrosting OK so the defrost heater should be OK. |
