My freezer is freezing up and will not get cold enough.I replaced the defrost thermostat in the freezer compartment and the defrost heater element works great, it glows red, but I have to start the defrost cycle manually holding down the temperature controls inside the refrigerator compartment to get my electrolux/frigidaire model LECR23EFE0 refrigerator to go into defrost cycle.
????
 not a happy camper

Could there be any other reasons say for instance, one of the lead wires to the freezer thermostat being bad or something else?
as you know the the main control power board is a bit pricey

The fuse is 3 amp according to a manual I found.
I do not know what the battery is.
I doubt it is a fuse problem as it looks like it would kill power to the control board.
I think it is the control board because the unit runs OK until the evaporator coils freezer over due to no defrost so the freezer and fresh food thermistors must be OK. Also since you can force a defrost the wiring to the defrost thermostat and the defrost heater must be OK. |

I am really perplexed, I hope you can help: I replaced the Main Control Board 241511102. I used a digital multimeter to test the continuity of my defrost thermostat and the defrost heater coil when the Evaporator 5303918284 was all frozen (had continuity)and when it was not ( no continuity) (BTW, the items were connected appropriately while testing). The defrost cycle does not come on automatically. Also, I know the defrost heater works because when I manually start it by holding the up arrow on the freezer and pushing the down arrow on the frigerator 5 times, it gets hot, i fact red hot. This all worked the same way before I spent $225 or so to replace the defrost thermostat and the ##$@%%$# main control board. I do not think that it is the main control board , unless the new one is also bad. SO what else is it?? Any ideas? I have spent the past 4 nights, all of last weekend and a small fortune trying to figure it out and I am stumped. I took pictures with my IPhone but do not know how to attach them to this message. Please help me before my wife makes me sleep in the frigerator or buries me in it thank you:eek:

Sorry for not getting back to you soon but I have been trying to get some tech info on this control board. Unfortunately I have had no luck. I did find the tech sheet, see the attachment. But it does not say how it calculates when to start a defrost cycle. It says a cycle every 6 - 96 hours of compressor run time. This is an inverter driven driven compressor so it is basically on all the time but varies the speed so they must be monitoring this speed or using info from the door open/close. I just do not know. I did notice that the boer wiring diagram does show a jumper for ADC (automatic defrost control) or timer. If your board has this, perhaps try shorting across it. The unit then should defrost a a set interval time. Again I could not find any info on what that time would be. Defective boards out of the box is a possibility but it is very, very rare that you would get a board that has the exact same fault as the one you replaced. Just to recap the current status. You can manually force a defrost. After the ice/frost is melted off the evaporator coils the unit will run correctly until the ice/frost build up on the coils again to the point that the fan cannot pull air through them. Then your temperature start to rise. Is the above correct? To attach files use the little paper clip icon above the post. Note that there are size limits depending on the type of file you upload. |

Then the emperature starts to rise. What about the thermistor, does mu LECR23EFE0 Figidaire/Electrolux refrigerator use a thermistor, part number 240597203, . If so what does this part do exactly. I am surprised that you all seem as bewildered as me about the problem. Where can I get a cpoy of the "service manual" for this model? DO you now if my frigerator is mechanical defrost model or an adaptive defrost model.

Yes the unit uses these thermistors. They measure the temperatures but since your temperatures are OK for some time after a manual defrost I would say that they are OK.
The unit does not have a separate ADC or defrost timer. The circuitry to control defrost is on the control board. That is why your problem is such a puzzle since you replaced the control board.
I do not know where you can get a service manual. I tried on the Frigidaire service website and they do not list one. |
