If u can force the defrost only by manually advancing the timer then it sounds like the timer is faulty

Finally got lucky. Below is a link to a manual for units that are similar to yours. I am not sure if they are 100% the same but it is the best I can do. The file is too large to upload here so I had to use a third party suite. Uncheck "Use our download manager: and then use the gray "DOWNLOAD" button. Otherwise the sute may install software on your computer that you do not want. Download Frigidair Icon Fridge.pdf |

how to release two tabs on one side of the control board and a plastic lip that that secure the LCD indicators onthe other side of the control box in order to liift the control board out of the control housing. The instructions on page 42 of the manual do not explain this procedure well.
Do you have any ideas, I do not want to damage the control housing

Also not sure why you are pulling this board. From what I can see in the wiring diagram this is just a user interface. |
