Kitchen aid refrigerator with a non working ice maker. I have an 04/05 model KSCS25INSS00 refrigerator. A few years ago the ice dispenser quit working and I fixed this by replacing the ice tray motor control / timer unit. A month ago it quit working again. Thinking it a repeat problem I replaced the unit a 2nd time, but it didn't fix the problem. When it stops working the ice tray always has ice in it but it doesn't dump. If I turn the power off for an hour and turn it back on the ice maker will start working again, and it will continue to work for the next day and a half. It always stopping working with the ice maker tray full. When the door is open the optic sensor blinks 2 times and then repeats. When the sensor flapper door is closed the light is solid. The water dispenser in the door always works. I do not think it is a filter issue. The open ended water line that empties into the ice tray does not appear frozen but it is possible it is freezing somewhere else inside the refrigerator cabinet I cannot see? Any ideas?

I have already replaced the ice maker control module, part number W10190935. From what I have described, why do you think the entire ice maker needs replacing if I can get it to work for a while after the power is turned off? Is it the blinking light codes..... isn't 2 short blinks normal?

Please, read and follow the troubleshooting test.

Most likely the problem is within the icemaker.Could be the thermostat or mold heater.

Haven't tried testing it yet. I turned the power off Sunday for 2 hours when the ice bin was getting real low. I turned the power back on and as of Thursday morning it is still working. The ice bin is full. I don't believe for a minute the fix is perminant.... but it is still working, making this intermittant faiure hard to trace down.

I agree, it'll be much easier to take care of the problem if you know exactly what it is.

Simon.
