After opening my refrig. door for 5 seconds, the compressor turned on. It ran for approximately 5 minutes, then turned off. The compressor fan started back up,then off. I hear a clicking sound while fan is on,then the compresor turns back on. It runs for 2 min. then turns off. While the comp. fan was turning on/off, I turned the temp control thermostat down to a warmer setting and everything turns off. Help please !

I would drop the control panel and let it hang on the wires. Tap on the cold control and defrost control, one of them might be intermitent. If ok, I would next check the connector for the control panel, unplug it and plug back in, might have a bad pin.

I've done this on several occasions, sometimes not even dropping the control housing and actually tapping on the housing. This too, is shutting off the fan. Does this indicate that the cold control is faulty ?

I would take the screws out of the cold control to isolate it. If it still shuts off when tapping it, that confirms a bad control.
