I have this Jenn Air range, stopped working suddenly. The burners still work, but the control pad does not work (no beeps) and the display is blank, thus the oven won't work as well. Repair guy says it needs a new control pad. My question is, will a bad control pad cause the display to be off as well? I see the control pad is a seperate part than the control board that has the display with it. I am thinking of ordering a new control pad myself but do not want to waste the money if the control board is toast also.

Here are your parts http://www.appliancepartspros.c...ch.aspx?model=JES9800AAWI would check the power first. Could be that you have lost Neutral. Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times. Sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker. Check the voltage at the plug L1 to L2 should be 240 volts L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts. If OK Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out If OK Check the power at the terminal strip. Do this with the heater off and on. Be careful as 240 volts is lethal !!! If power is OK then I agree with you that it is more likely that the control board/clock (item 5 in the Control Panel section) is toast. |
