no water to the ice maker, how can I be shure if it is the water valve or the ice maker head?

the first thing you want to do is check where the water comes into the icemaker, and see if the water tube is iced up. if not then on that model to get it started, grab the ice ejectors, and pull up hard on them, and that will start a cycle. if the icemaker gear in the front starts turning, wait till the gear finally stops, and just before it does it should fill with water. if not replace the valve. if you pull hard up on the ejectors, and it does not start, you need a new icemaker. tom
