Trying to remove timer (part #3-05207-1) but cannot get dial knob off on Maytag DE612 dryer. Tried prying but didn't budge - afraid of breaking it. Is there some secret to this or is it just stuck?

I could not find a breakdown for a DE612 but following is for a LDE612. They should be the same. Parts for Maytag LDE612 Dryer - AppliancePartsPros.comLook at the Control Panel Parts section. It looks like the center of the knob pops off and then you have to remove a nut that holds the knob onto the timer shaft. |

I had removed the stick-on disc in the center of the knob and found solid plastic. Looking at the parts photo for the timer shows a threaded end on the shaft. I went back and realized there is a removable cap in the center of the knob (well disguised) that gives you access to the nut. Thanks for the help!
