Hi. Based on the information you provided the timer need to be replaced. After washer drains out the water the timer pausing fora few seconds allowing the transmission to engage in the spin mode. By opening and closing the lid you are pausing. The timer Part number: 661636
Post the results. Simon.

Operate the machine with the cabinet removed and lid switch bypassed. The washer should fill, go into agitate, at end of agitate mode, motor pauses, starts up again in reverse direction. At this point, it should be draining and the clutch hub should not be rotating. Observe the clutch hub near end of agitation mode to be sure it doesn't start rotating when drain mode starts. After drain, motor should pause again for a few seconds. When it starts back up again the clutch hub should be rotating. If the motor doesn't pause after agitation mode and drain mode, it's a timer issue. If the clutch hub is spinning and the basket is not, it's a mechanical issue (clutch, brake, tub drive block, clothes between inner/outer tub,...etc.) If after drain/pause/restart for spin, the clutch hub is not spinning, it's a gearcase issue.
