my infinite switch to control the range burner went out and would only heat high with no control. i bought a switch that replaces this one but the generic switch only has places for 5 wires not 6 wires. it also does not have the same locations for attachment. the new switch is 7403p209-60. does anybody have a diagram of the proper attachment, and what do i do with the extra wire? my wires are red,black,yellow, purple, brown, and another red. thank you

There are two different kinds of the heating elements on your stove: with the sensor and without the sensor.
They have very different design and wiring, and they need different switches.
The switch with the part number 7403p209-60 is the regular switch for a heating elements with just two terminals.
The terminals on this switch are marked: L1 & L2 (for incoming power), H1 & H2 (for outgoing power) and P (for the indicator light).
What is the part number from the original switch (should be written on the switch body) and what are the terminal marks?

the switch is the one without the sensor. the only numbers i could find on it are 5037s 050 the prongs are labeled p1, p2 , red s, brown s (this goes to the indicator light), 2, 4,

Looks like the original switch for your stove is no longer available.
If you have the wiring diagram and you can post, it might help.
If not, I believe you can use the switch what you have without connection to the indicator light. You have to find two wires incoming power and two wires going to the heating element.

This appears to be a common problem. Has anyone found a solution?
I have an extra wire, a blue one, that on the original switch plugs in on the bottom, far right (if you're looking at the switch from the back)
On the new switch, according to the instructions, there's no place for it to go.
Very frustating. No guidance from JennAir or the many techs I've called
