Hi.
I recommend you to replace the motor and individually connect the wires without the plug. Also cut off the overheated area and put a new contact on the heating element wire. Make sure the connection is tight.

Are you saying to cut away the burned area on the plug for the yellow and black contacts, and install them individually, and then use the remainder of the plug for the gray, white, beige and green contacts? I think I would prefer to do this. I could not see an easy way to remove the good contacts from the plug. I understand to cut off the burned wires at the heating element and replace with a new connector. Regarding the new motor, I see now that it is already in a cage (see attached pic). It looks like there is a clip on either side of the old motor that holds it down, correct? My other question is regarding the blower housing - does it simply spin off of the shaft? I do see the threads on the shaft of the new motor. moody9207 attached the following image(s):

Hi.
You can connect the wires as you wish as long it's done properly.
The blower is threaded on the shaft.

hey did changing the motor work for you? I have the same problem anyone help? I have checked all continuity and it is ok the exhaust air is strong and i am getting 230v at the plug but I am just getting very little heat... cant find the problem:confused:

Gene. I dont know where to find the model number It is a whirpool gold I have tried everything I pulled it appart to pieces and checked every thermostat and fuse available the ones on the blower fan casing and the ones on the heating element casing i disconected both wires on each fuse, thermostat, and element and tested for continuity with a multimeter I checked for any signs of loose wires on the motor I also washed any areas where lint was starting to build up and I pulled it away from the wall thinking maybe it was the exhaust but no luck, today I rebuilt it and tested plugged in and it looks like the heating element is not turning bright red but there is some heat another thing I noticed whenever you touch the dryer bbarefoot it will shock you, I placed an external ground line to the external ground connector in the back goind to a ground rod but it still gives a shock when you touch it barefoot Read more: http://forum.appliancepartspros...eat-3.html#ixzz23UlyJ2Eb http://forum.appliancepartspros.com

Remove the wires from the heating element terminals and check for continuity between each of the terminals and the ground.
The name plate is usually located on the dryer door frame.

Hi lexmp, replacing the motor did solve my problem. When I replaced the motor, I did find some of the contacts severely burned and to rewire them. This was probably the root cause of the problem.
