The front left XLO burner on my 4 burner Thermador has stopped lighting. When attempting to light, the spark is audible and visible but no gas is flowing. The rear left burner is identical so I swapped the gas valve and potentiometer from the rear left burner to the front left burner to try to narrow the problem down to one of those two components, but unfortunately that didn't work. The rear left continued to work while the front left continued to fail. Before doing that, I had a technician come over and he said it was those two parts that needed to be replaced. I figured I didn't need to pay him $500 and could do it myself instead. Glad I gave it shot, but still no working burner. Since replacing those two parts with working versions did not fix the problem? I'm not sure what to do next. Any suggestions out there? For the record, the two parts I moved are labeled as #7 and #8 on the Burner Box diagram here:

Hi. Check if you are getting 120VAC to the solenoid, if yes - replace it Part number: 411253
Thank you. Post the results. Simon.

Thank you. I tested the voltage to both the working and non-working solenoids and they are both getting 220V AC. You mentioned it should be 120V, but I guess my stove is on a 220V circuit? I don't actually know.
Will the above part work with both 120V and 220V? If so, I'll order it and give it a try.

Hi.
According the wiring diagram (at the end of the breakdown diagrams) this is a 120VAC appliance. Are you sure about getting 240VAC at the solenoid contacts? What kind of the plug do you have? Is it 240V or 120V?
Simon.

I pulled the stove out from the wall and you are correct it does in fact have a standard 120V plug. I repeated my measurement with my MulitMeter and it reads about 230V if I'm reading it correctly. I also tested a nearby outlet to make sure the meter works okay, and I got 120V. It's a little hard to tell what's going on, but this is how I had the meter hooked up

Hi.
Check the voltage at the outlet you are using.
Check the ratings on the coil itself.
Simon.

I finally got a 20mm socket to so I could undo the venturi and get good access to the parts, but even with the right size socket I couldn't get it to turn. I ended up following whalerpaul's technique ( http://forum.appliancepartspros...us-stove.html#post613441) and was able to remove the drip pans without unscrewing the venturi. Make sure to reach under and disconnect the gas first! With full access, I was able to swap the solenoids for the left front/back burners and when I reconnected everything the front worked and the back didn't! So the solenoid is in fact the faulty part and I'd much rather have the front working than the back anyway. I will order the part as soon as I'm done posting and expect to have all my burners working again soon. Thanks for your help Simon!
