Thanks, I will take out the element first and double check the resistance. I cleaned the ice from everything and plugged the frig back in and it gets cold, so I know I have the correct general problem area identified.

I tried to run the forced defrost one more time before taking it apart and it worked. Do sure if I just had a bad connection or if I need to go back to your trouble shooting. Is the defrost thermosat the bimetl-def.
I went back to your trouble shooting guide. It looks like the timer is the problem. Do you think I am correct.

P.S. I tested it again and the test worked as before. I also could hear the one "click" from the relay.

OK if I follow along you did not unplug anything in the evaporator coil area so I think you have it beat.

Yes

Yes
I think you have found the problem as you can force the defrost heater on but the timer will not automatically do a defrost. The timer section of it is not working.
Nothing is 100% guaranteed but I would replace the timer.
