I can say that WD-40 is not a great lubricant. You are much better off with sewing machine or 3 in 1 oil. Also do not go crazy with the oil as it will hold lint.

I was reading one of threads and it mentioned not to use WD-40, which I did obviously. I was wondering the downside of using it.
