The bleach dispenser stopped working recently on my Kenmore model 110.20907990 washing machine.

I took the actual dispenser out - and nothing seems to be clogging it - but I can't see down the tube.

Any tips on how to tell if this just needs cleaned out (and how to do it!) or if something needs to be replaced?

Thanks,

Zin

The bleach dispenser is just a tube that runs the bleach to the bottom of the tub, nothing more. It should just be open all the time.

If you take the cabinet off you will be able to see the tube.

Check this out for how to take the cabinet off.

If under 1 yr. it will still be under warranty. I would call for service.

jdman gave you the best advice in such situation. If your washer is less then a year old, do not attempt to any repairs - it will void the manufacturer warranty. Call Sears for service.

Sounds like I have the same problem as my bleach dispenser leaves the bleach in the dispenser. My machine is two plus years old. I would be interested in any ideas. The model number is 110.16972500. Could the valve inlet solenoid be the problem?

Thanks for your help.

Most likely the problem with your washer is a bad water inlet valve (#24 on the break down diagram).

- The part number for the water inlet valve AP3122125

Gene,

Thank you for your help! Should a do-it-yourselfer tackle replacing it? Is the check valve a common problem too?

I can not say this is a most common problem but it happens.

To replace the water inlet valve is not very complicated job and if you know how to use a regular hand tools, you can do it.
