The dryer runs but produces no heat (airflow is good). Peered through the access hole in the lower front, and do not see any glow. Pulled and checked thermal fuse, it has near zero resistance. Pulled and checked ignitor, it looks good and measures 76 ohms. What should I look for next? Thanks for your help.

Hi.
There are several parts you need to check: - hi limit thermostat (top of the burner). - thermal cut-off (back of the dryer on the side of the heater box). - operating thermostat (next to the thermal fuse). - thermal fuse - flame sensor (on the side of the burner).
Thank you. Post the results.
Simon

Thamks for the recommended checks, Simon. Surprisingly, when I put the dryer back together after checking the igniter and thermal fuse (and giving it a good vacuuming), it worked fine. Could be an issue with the timer starting to show its signs of age (just like we experienced and solved on the matching washer). Will keep your suggestions just in case the problem reappears. Thanks again.

Well, problem is still there but intermittent. Sometimes, the igniter glows for what appears to be the right length of time, but the gas never comes on, some other times the igniter does not glow, and on a rare occasion everything works. It's like russian roulette! I am officially stumped!!!

Simon was right to start but after reading your previous attemps and feedback I would bet money it is the gas coil set. These are the two black solenoids you see on the regulator behind the igniter. I would always get the call that the dryer does not heat then it would seem fine when I checked. After cycling on and off several times it would not come on again. I have pics and a better explanation here Gas No Heat Originally Posted by: amvivaldi The dryer runs but produces no heat (airflow is good). Hi. Based on information you provided this time I recommend to replace the control coils Part number: 279834
Use the video clip for the instructions. Thank you. Simon.

Thanks to both of you. Already getting set of coils (and timer, just in case). Going after timer due to igniter not glowing sometimes (suspecting worn, dirty contacts if it works on same principle as the matching washer timer which gave up the ghost a month ago?). Will replace coils first (less $, but more involved) then timer to see which was the problem. BTW, could not correlate gas not coming on with coils being warmer (like after running a while). It seems to be totally random. Will let you know which (if either) solved the problem.

Dryer now appears to be working! Replaced timer and ran 3 successful cycles at different heat settings. OBserved operation and firing (igniter glowing, gas coming on, etc.) cycled as expected several times in lower heat modes. Have since also replaced the gas valve solenoid coils as a precaution, since I already had them. Thanks for the help, Simon.
