Ran service test mode 1 which I assume energizes defrost circuit - defroster works during test but as soon as I leave test mode no more defrost - does this mean the control board is bad - everything else seems to work fine.

Hi.
What makes you think that there is defrost problem? Can you provide more info on the symptoms. Does the evaporator fan run?
Thank you.
Simon.

Simon. Freezer had ice forming on the lower back wall (about 1/8 inch thick). Melted ice with hair dryer - more ice started forming next day. That's when I started running Service tests: Test #1 showed that Defrost thermostat was closed and heater was on as I could see ice melting. I also ran Service test #3 which operates the evaporator fan and I could hear the fan run - did not actually see it run. Thank you

Hi.
Remove the evaporator cover and see what pattern is the build up. Is it snow packed evenly or it's ice in certain places?
Thank you.
Simon.

Simon. Not sure what the evaporator cover is but looking at the back wall cover that has several openings in it like the grill in a car - if that is the evap cover I would say that its evenly packed snow as opposed to ice in certain places. And again I thank you!
