I have a Bosch SHU5315. During a cycle, the upper arm doesn't rotate, and no water comes out of the upper arm. Therefore, the top half of my dishes never get washed. I have already done the following:

1. Thoroughly cleaned the filter.

2. Made sure that there was no debris in the lower and upper arms. (Debris free).

Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks.

Does the circulation pump work? Does the lower spray arm rotate?

What is the end of the model number?

Hi Gene,

Does the circulation pump work? Does the lower spray arm rotate? Yes to both. However, I opened the door, stuck a screwdriver into the top latch, and pressed the start button. This way I was able to see what was happening inside with the door opened. This is what I saw:

The lower arm was rotating, but rather slowly, and water was coming out, but was only about 3-4 inches high.

I also did the following (with the washer door open, screwdriver into the top latch, and pressed the srart button):

1. I removed the lower arm, the water was coming out of the center, but only about 2 inches high.

2. With the lower arm removed, I put my hand to cover the center flow. Water then started coming out of the top arm, but barely any rotation.

One additional thing that I did was run the diagnostic test (found a manual on the web which described how to do this). The result was that a Fault code = 2 was displayed. Fault code 2 = Heating Fault.

Therefore, I am starting to believe that the washer probably has multiple problems.

What is the end of the model number? The complete model number is the following: SHU5315UC/U11 (FD8005 05 0149)

Thanks again for you help.

Hi Rui,

Sounds like the circulation pump does not create enough pressure. It can be because of not enough water in the dishwasher or a bad circulation pump.

Check the water level inside the dishwasher while it's in a middle of the wash cycle. If it seems less than it suppose to be, add a few cups of water to see if it will make any difference. Post the results.

Hi Gene,

I did as you asked. I did the following:

1. Started the machine on "Delicate/Econo". Observation: Cycle Countdown started at "2H". If I recall, usually it would start at 76 minutes or so.

2. After 30 minutes or so, I added water (about 12-14 cups). I added water to make sure that the water covered the top of the filter cup in the center. I also put a screwdriver to the latch and pressed the start button to observe what was happening inside the machine. Observation: Same as before (yesterday), only the lower arm was rotating with about 4.5 inches of water or so. (No water being pumped to the upper arm). It looks like this time a little bit more water was being pumped out of the lower arm than yesterday because with the door open, when I was observing, the pressure did allow some water to come out through the sides of the open door, but it was minimal.

Let me know if you want me to try something else.

Thanks again for your help.
Rui.

Rui,

Looks like there are two problems: a bad circulation pump (insufficient pressure) and a bad control module (2H display).

- The circulation pump Part number: 239144
Part number: 239144

- The control module Part number: 266746
Part number: 266746

Hi Gene,

Thanks for your response and analysis. It is really appreciated!. Gene, I have one more question before I order the parts.

In my earlier post, I mentioned that I ran a self-diagnostic test and received a Faut code = 2. Fault Code 2 = Heating fault. Also, I noticed that the water does not really get hot either. Do you think that I need the heater assembly part (AP2802450 - BOSCH 480317 Heater Assembly, for Aqua Sensor (softer Bearing), Sh, AP2802450 | AppliancePartsPros.com), or any other part to address the Fault code =2 issue? Or will the control module that you mentioned address this as well.

Looking forward to your reply, and thanks again for your help!

Best Regards,
Rui.l

Hi Rui,

In most cases such heating faults caused by a faulty control module. So, I hope the new control module will fix it as well.

Hi Gene,

Thanks for the info. Once I change the parts I will report back and let you know how it went.

Thanks for your help.
Rui.
