If you remove the drip tray then look under the lower lip of the dispenser face, you will find two slots that a flat blade screwdriver fit in nicely. As you push down on the bottom, insert the screwdriver and pull toward you until it snaps loose, then do the other side. This will give you access to the dispenser are which is usually held in place with a couple tabs. Behind the switch bracket is the whole chute assembly. The door pivots on a shaft that is attached to the door by a couple tabs, one of which has a tendency to break. I wrote about this problem in my post Kitchenaid Refrigerator Broken Dispenser Door were I installed a kit ( AP3872692) to complete the repair. Or you may get lucky and just fine a broken spring.

Thank you for your help from 3-23-2009 on gaining access on my whirlpool refrigerator where the ice chute door was not closing. I gained access, but found that the dispenser housing was broken, not the spring. It is item one on the parts list, but there is no part number. Do you have any idea how to get a new housing?

Sounds like the plastic mount tabs have broken off. There is a kit available which I wrote about in my post Kitchenaid Refrigerator Broken Dispenser Door that can be installed and makes the housing better than the original. Get the kit, follow the instructions and you should be good.
