The tempered glass cooktop on my Whirlpool GAS cooktop (part # 8285074) is shattered and needs to be replaced. Can I do that myself?

Sure you can. The top will be held in place by the screws holding the burners, so take the burner caps off, remove the screws, and take the burners off. Then the top can come off and be replaced.
