Part # WD18X214 pump connector is a commonly failing part that is used in many models of dishwashers by GE, Maytag, Kenmore, and others. Depending on your dishwasher and the amount of space in your installation, you may find it just barely possible to replace this part without removing the dishwasher. Otherwise, you may have to remove the dishwasher. For my dishwasher (GE model# GSD4930Z00WW) I felt that it was easier to replace the part without removing the dishwasher. (That is to say, I traded the hassle of removing the dishwasher for the hassle of laying on the ground and working in close quarters.) Following are instructions that I made for myself based on the last time that I replaced the WD18X214. I am in no way encouraging anyone else to follow this procedure and I accept no liability for any damage or injury incurred by anyone who utilizes this procedure. [LIST=1] Remove the 2 bottom fascia panels with a Philips head screwdriver. [FONT=Arial","sans-serif]Disconnect the dishwasher’s electrical power supply.[/FONT] [FONT=Arial","sans-serif]From within the dishwasher, remove the bottom dish rack.[/FONT] [FONT=Arial","sans-serif]Remove the sprayer arm by pulling it up while using a flat-head screwdriver to GENTLY pry back the tabs just enough.[/FONT] [FONT=Arial","sans-serif]Firmly unscrew the tubular base housing of the sprayer arm by firmly twisting it with your hand. It may be tough to do, but it will turn and unscrew (from WD18X214). You may need to use two hands.[/FONT] [FONT=Arial","sans-serif]Repeatedly stick a towel into the hole to dry out the hole so that any water doesn’t spill onto the floor when you remove WD18X214 in the following steps.[/FONT] [FONT=Arial","sans-serif]Using a 5/16” socket (preferably on a screwdriver handle) loosen the bolt on the hose clamp that holds WD18X214 to the pump housing. (Upper middle of attached photo.) It’s probably best to completely remove the clamp, and completely remove the hose clamp, but if you do so, be careful not to lose the nut on the back of the hose clamp since it is not permanently attached.[/FONT] [FONT=Arial","sans-serif]Using a 5/16” socket, remove the bolt from the lower right of the pump motor that is connected to the arm holding the pump up to the frame. (Lower right of attached photo.) This will let the pump housing drop down enough to finagle in the old WD18X214 hose out and the new one in.[/FONT] [FONT=Arial","sans-serif]You may want to also remove some of the wiring if it’s in your way.[/FONT] [FONT=Arial","sans-serif]Remove the old WD18X214 and install the new one, making sure to properly slip it over the pump housing.[/FONT] [FONT=Arial","sans-serif]Reverse steps #9 through #2.[/FONT] [FONT=Arial","sans-serif]Run the dishwasher for a cycle while looking underneath to make sure that it isn’t leaking.[/FONT] [FONT=Arial","sans-serif]If it’s working well without leaking, reinstall the bottom 2 fascia panels.[/FONT][/LIST][FONT=Arial","sans-serif]Photos at the following link.[/FONT] https://picasaweb.google.com/1047469...eat=directlink
