serial #P1196504WW Refrigerator is in excellent physical condition.Fridge is usually very cold Freezer usually does not freeze. Periodically the fridge stops cooling. You cannot hear the compressor turn on. If we leave it unplugged for a few days to a week it then starts up and cools very well. Seems to me that the compressor rarely turns off. Temp in the fridge is 35 to 40 degrees. It then works in this mode for 3 to 6 months and then dies again. When I test it for life, I plug it in and I hear an attempt to start the compressor, but it does not stay on until the magic day when it comes back to life. Freezer is still not freezing (it stopped freezing in about its 3rd year of life) Currently the fridge is working. We expect it to die within the month. What parts would you suggest that we change?

Check overload relay & starter relay. Then when you can get it started every time see if the condenser fan near the compressor is running. Is the fan inside the freezer running.
