I have a whirlpool model # du89oswlqo serial # fr2615710 dishwasher that does not fill with water. It appears that the float inside the washer at the bottom is missing. Can I just buy a new float and push it back on the plastic tube that is sticking up about three inches? Will it stay secure?
If I push in the door switch and put a screwdriver down in the tube that is located inside the washer at the bottom and push it down with the controls turned on, water enters the machine like it it suppose to.
Do you know how old this dishwasher is?
Is there anything else I should check?
Thanks

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL DU890SWLQ0 | AppliancePartsPros.com

Float is Item 32 in Section 7 "Tub assembly parts"
It is all you should need

I would remove the kick plate just to take a look underneath for any sign of water leakage and to ensure the float switch is OK

Do not know the unit's age.
