Freezer unit seldom stops. Even with control set at bottom of the dial, the inside temperature stays about -20F.
Freezer is 28-30 years old and has never required service or repair before.

If this is a chest type freezer it most likely is, there is no defrosting cycle in this unit. So how much ice and snow is there on the walls? If there,s a lot of snow and ice, it should be manually defrosted by pulling out the plug and using a hair dryer.This should be done once a year. This will make the unit run more efficient.

Abbie: This is an upright freezer. It was completely defrosted one month ago, so there is minimal ice buildup. And, I vacuumed the dust bunnies off of the heat exchanger and other working parts. The door seal seems good; can't pull a sheet of paper through it when door is closed. Could it be a bad thermostat or temperature sensor? What else? Thanks for responding. Dave

Yep, sounds like your t-stat is toast, has the compressor running all the time.. Your model number didn't register with APP pro to give a parts list tho'..
Are there more numbers or characters you didn't include?? You could narrow down a replacement more easily with the complete model number... post back, kooler

These numbers appear on Frigidaire freezer: UFD 157N and 30AE 5798.
That may help with parts search.

Nope, my search tools are not identifying the model numbers you posted... Are these numbers from the ID tag or plate and clearly typed as 'Model No'??
Another option is to loosen the temp control and look for part numbers on the side of the control (with power disconnected)... You may be able to input this part number into the APPros part number search feature to find a replacement...
