My dryer is making a funny noise and will eventually stop from what I believe is the thermal protection kicking in. I believe it is a bad motor but need an expert opinion.

Rather than go into long detail I have put my issue in a video. I would sure appreciate if you would watch it and give me your opinion.

Video is at:

Here are your parts

I would say the motor bearings are shot.
See this post that Gene replied to

I would check the blower just to be sure it is not rubbing on anything, you are going to have to take this apart anyway so just do it before ordering anything.

Well, funny thing happened. I'm leaving a friends house about 11pm last night and get about a block away and there on the side of the road is a dyer placed out in the trash. It was a Kenmore similar to my Whirlpool. I throw it in the back of the truck and take it home. Plugged it in and the motor ran fine. Pull the motor out and it is the same part number as the bad one. This morning I replaced the motor and fan blade (I had to chisel the fan blade off) with the ones from the Kennmore I took from the trash. Everything is now running PERFECT!

There is a lot more to the story I wont go into except to say God is Good!

Thanks for your assistance.

Tony
