I have a maytag side by side refrigerator model # msd2732grw that just stopped working both frige and freezer. the compressor is very hot to the touch (can only hold hand on top for a few seconds). the fan works fine and there is a clicking noise every so often. Could it be the relay and if so what would the part #? I tried looking this up and it seems there are different relays.

my side by side just crapped out the same way. Was yours fixed? How?

If the compressor is vibrating and the condenser coils warm, you have system problems for a pro to look at.
If not, you can try a new start device. Make a diagram of the wires to it, remove it. If it rattles when shaken, it's bad. Order here, AP4009660.
This kit has a ptc device for the start function. If your old device is a large box, you will have problems wiring it, just let us know.
