When knob is turned to any desired setting and the start button is pushed I get a buzz sound and nothing happens. Has the motor itself gone bad or is another part causing the motor to act this way?

Wow!!! An old Westinghouse built Monkey Ward. That model # would most likely have to be looked up on Micrfishe. But if it is dead, it very well could be a thermal fuse. If you unplug the dryer, and get a putty knife, and slide it under the top, about 3 inches from the end it will hit a clip to release the top. Do it on both sides, and lift up the top, and rest it on the back wall. Once you get the top up, look up top in the right hand corner, just behind the drum, and there should be a round part the size of a dime, with 2 wires coming to it. Take the 2 wires off, and put the terminal ends together, and then wrap tape around it, so it does not hit metal, and then plug the dryer in and see if it works. If it does, shut the dryer off immediatly, and do not run the dryer with the thermal fuse jumped out. It is the only thing that stops the dryer from burning down the house. If it works, unplug the dryer again, and I need you to take the front off. There should be a phillips head screw on the inside of the front, about 6 inches down, on the left side, and one on the right side. Remove them, and depending on the age, there might be another screw on each side to take off to remove the front. Anyway, once you get the front off, take the wires off the door switch, and look on the bottom of the front, and clean all the lint out of it. I aso want to tell you to check the door switch, it could make the dryer dead, and also flip the breaker off and on a few times to see if it did not trip. Let me know what you find. This may take two people
Open the door push the door switch so it is closed
Push the start switch while rotating the drum in the correct direction
Watch your knuckles in case it starts up

If it starts up, either your motor is shot or the drum is binding somewhere.
Drum binding - rotate drum by hand should rotate fairly easily
Motor shot - could be the motor is on it's last legs. Also could be the motor's centrifugal switch re: the start winding is not getting connected when the motor is at rest. On an old dryer like this the switch may be available as a separate item. Could also be the mechanism that activates the switch is broken/jammed in the run position.
