I have a GE Side by Side refrigerator. The freezer and icemaker are working fine. The refrigerator is not cooling as good as it should. I have the control setting at 7 and its cooling but not cooling good enough. The milk is warm. I have noticed that the top of the refrigerator is not cooling and the bottom of the refrigerator is cooling better. especially the 2 bottom drawers. Can you please help.

Thanks,
Yolanda

I Checked The Back Of The Inside Of The Freezer And There Is A Little Bit Of Frost. You Stated To Check The Heater, Do You Know Where The Heater Is At? I Also Checked The Fan In The Freezer By Holding The Switch On The Door Down And The Fan Is Still Working. Is The Fan Suppose To Shut And Come Back On?

once we removed the back panel the coil had ice all over it. my husband checked the defrost heater and it was fine had continuity from one end to the other end. he also checked the defrost thermostat and it also had continuity. now I read that to check the thermostat wiring it should be frozen, is this correct and why? Also i can not locate the defrost timer at all, not even on the diagram. can you please help on where to locate this and maybe send a picture of what i'm looking for. (model#gss25jepaww GE date of refrigerator is 01/21/2003.)

I also wanted to know on the evaorator fan there is a white censor, how can i check to see if this is bad?

p.s the freezer started melting the ice from the icemaker too. so now the freezer is not cooling like it should.

thanks in advance,
yolanda

Yolanda,

There is no defrost timer in your refrigerator. All refrigerator functions, including the defrost cycle, operated by the main control board on the back of the refrigerator.

If there is nothing wrong with the defrost heater and defrost thermostat then the main control board has to be replaced. It is recommended by pros to replace both freezer thermistors together with the control board in such situation.

- The part number for the thermistor (they are identical) is AP3185407

- The part number for the main control board is AP4297272
