Dropped cup and broke glass on my cooktop(freestanding unit). Have ordered new glass. How is glass released from cooktop? Is a repair manual available for this item?

Bob,

You have to remove the whole cooktop from the counter. Remove all knobs. Remove the screws around the burner box and lift the glass panel up.

Here are the break down diagrams and the parts list for the GE cooktop Model JP340BA2BB

Liana,

As far as I can see on the diagram the procedure is pretty similar to the GE cooktop above. The whole unit has to be removed from the counter.

Any special instructions on how to remove it, and install the new one,, any thing would help.. you had a few step by step instructions for the Ge one should I use the same procedure?

"remove the whole cooktop from the counter. Remove all knobs. Remove the screws around the burner box and lift the glass panel up.??

Please advise anything would help there for I am clueless on how to replace it?

Liana,

This job is a little bit more difficult because this cooktop is more complicated than GE. It does not have knobs because it operates by the touch pads. You can use most of these instructions, but I can not give you any advise on how to remove the cooktop from the counter because I do not know how it was installed.

If you feel not very comfortable with this job it might be better to buy the part and to hire a pro to do it for you, especially because the part is very expensive.
